How To Make Fall A Season-Long Book Lovers Day

This post is all about a book lovers day must-haves to last all fall season.

Hello August! It’s Book Lovers Day!

But if Book Lovers Day could be a season it would be Autumn. Cooler mornings, and foggy, overcast rainy days just inspire you to curl up light candles and be whisked away by otherworldly characters.

Do you have warm fuzzies in your stomach? Because I do! And in the throws of getting ready for fall, I’ve compiled a list of all the perfect slow-fall day must-haves for you.

Bring on all the cozy fall days and the magic it holds.

Here’s To Planning a season-long book lovers day! πŸ‚

The first thing you must do is compile all your TBRs and organize them. Trust me, it may feel overwhelming now but organizing this list will remove some of the overthinking when trying to find the next read. I receive a text from my friend every couple of months asking what she should read next then we end up going back and forth because she’s either already read it or it’s not her style.

Your future self will thank you for this.

You’re also going to turn this into a fun relaxing evening that will also help you plan out your fall reads. Pour a glass of wine, grab the books and your journal. If you are a kindle reader like myself, then grab your kindle, and your journal – also grab your phone / laptop for ease of researching.

Tip: Don’t rush this process, enjoy it! Make it a part of the journey.

  1. Utilize your resources:
    • Good Reads, BookTok, Insta, screenshots, and rack that beautiful brain on all the books that caught your eye. Please do not forget the unfinished series or sagas, find the potential release dates, and mark their spot on the list.
  2. Make the list! Add notes like the tropes and what draws you to wanting to read the book.
    • If you have stickers place stickers on:
      • the waiting-to-be-released
      • books you already own (physical or on the kindle)
      • need to be purchased
  3. Now rewrite the list and start placing them in your preferred order.

Still stuck? Then try the TBR Jar. It’s a fun and easy way to find your next book.

  1. Write each TBR on a piece of paper
  2. Place them into a jar
  3. Shake and draw!

Here are a few fall favorite books I’ve read and RE-read. Enjoy!

Book Lovers Must-Haves

As a reader, there are very few things that we actually need other than the book being read but there are ways to take that reading experience to new joyous heights. And it’s one of the best ways to romanticize life.

Setting the environment is a part of the experience.

  • If you’ve been considering buying a Kindle, this is your sign. It took me a long time to commit to the purchase but now that I have, I adore mine, and makes reading at night easier.
  • Candles and more candles. Opt-in for soy wax, coconut wax, or beeswax for a non-toxic burning candle or LED Flameless Candles
  • Bottles of red. Why does red always taste the best this time of year?
  • Every book lover needs a book lovers mug! Oversized and a go-to.
  • The perfect robe and slippers. Seriously, being cute while cozy wins every time. This is a nonnegotiable and even my boyfriend loved his set.
  • Wear your love for reading with confidence and buy that bookish sweater.

These are all ways you can turn a reading adventure into a vibe. It’s simple and absolutely counts as a self-care day.

You’ve organized your TBR, you have your cozy reading essentials. You’re ready to turn this Autumn into the best cozy, romantic book lovers season yet.

Plan A Book Lovers Night

Go ahead and start texting your friends and plan that bookish themed night in. ‘Tis the season! 🍷

A go-to for my group has been book-themed coloring pages, puzzles, and clay molding WHILE the movie of the night plays in the background.

If you’re a baker or aspire to be (which I think everyone is) then pull out the kitchen aid and assign stations! These nights are not hard to plan but are hard to end. What a perfect way to romanticize your life.

One of our favorite things to do is for everyone to put 2 movies into a jar (it’s ok if they are repeats) and draw for the evening’s movie.

Cafe Date

Think of the cutest cafe in the city, maybe one you haven’t been to yet or your quaint neighborhood cafe. Pack a bag with your book, journal, and anything else you may need, and go sit at the cafe. I always forget this is a fun way to be out and still enjoy my slow fall reading.

If being at a cafe makes you uncomfortable then grab blankets, a drink, and make your way to the park! These two are by far my favorite ways to spend reading days.

Having a national book lovers day is simply not enough. So why not carry into the coziest season of them all and immerse ourselves in the best hobby in the world? Make book lovers a season-long day!
